Extrovert vs. Introvert
There is this common misconception about the natural behaviour of extroverts and introverts; extroverts are often times characterized as being lively and talkative, while introverts are naturally quiet and withdrawn.
This isn’t true. It’s correct that when you meet someone shy and quiet they will more likely be and introvert than an extrovert; however, this doesn’t mean that introverts are naturally shy, or that shy people always have to be introverts. On the contrary, introverts can be very talkative and discuss topics that intrest them for hours on end.The actual definition of an Introvert is someone who draws energy from being alone with their thoughts, while Extroverts draw their energy from being with others.
Introverts are people can who draw energy from being alone with their thoughts. They enjoy, and sometimes even need, a deep conversation with people they trust; they often don’t like small talk, or rather often don’t see the point in it. But after a while they will feel the need to be alone again, to recharge and sort out things on their own.
Extroverts on the other hand, are people who draw their energy from being with others. They can enjoy being alone with their ideas and dreams just as an introvert can enjoy being around people, yet after a while they will feel the need to interact with others to fill up their energy.Follow-up: Extrovert + Introvert = Ambivert
Great article though I am still a little dubious as to whether there is such a thing as Ambiversion. It doesn’t seem logical to me; it seems contradicting that one can draw energy from their inner world and outer world with the same effects and have an equal need for it.
A post I read on INTJforum really stood out to me today.
Kryptonite wrote:
Myers and Briggs wrote the test with normal, not sick or extremely deviant personalities in mind. It does not measure psychologically disrupted people. They will still resemble a type but are not that type. There is no type written for the psychopath. It is a seperate entity.
And I have to completely and honestly agree with that conclusion. People who display psychological disorders and/or disruptions (and do not kid yourselves, these are VERY common) can not be properly typed for this reason.
Comments anyone?
So, some of you might have heard of it, because I did post it already, but I just wanted to say that the forum is finally complete. We even have a chatroom now!
For the chatroom: (Channel is #mbti)

I’m going to pose a hypothetical situation.
You’re designing a self sustaining space colony meant to be it’s own unit and develop into it’s own society from scratch, no contact with it’s home world. (Obviously technologically superior to modern society.)
Start population: 160, even distribution by gender and by MBTI type.
My question:
What jobs would be required for the development and sustainability of this colony in both the short and long term?
More importantly, what types would you assign to these jobs?
I’m extremely interested in any and all answers to this question, be they very detailed or short and sweet.
Tell me what you think. Please and thank you.
I think this is pretty interesting.
INFJ/INTP seems to be happening a lot, lately, and working well. It supports the hypothesis that shared judging functions are much more important than shared perceiving functions; preferably with each type having an understanding of said judging functions. Probably the next most important thing is both being introverted (or extroverted) and then sharing the same predominant perceiving function. I think that most miscommunications come from either an extrovert not understanding introversion or clashing judging functions. Then clashing predominant perceiving functions. Sensors and iNtuitives can annoy each other because the Sensor goes too slowly and methodically which frustrates the iNtuitive, and the iNtuitive seems like they’re not going slowly and methodically enough to the Sensor. Perhaps this is how people should work out the best connections for types.
Once again, please comment.
Though from my experience, I completely agree with this analysis.

As an INFJ, I have to agree with that analysis.
BUT and this is a huge but, whenever I would speak to my ex-ENTP friend her damn Ne would overwhelm me. Sometimes after an intense five hour session with her, I would need a nap. Literally. In fact, one day we visited a castle for a few hours, just the two of us, and in the train on the way home I snoozed for the whole journey. I’m pretty sure I snored too, I was that exhausted. And I would tell her that her mind works so fast I can’t keep up. To which she would respond, “Yeah, nobody ever knows how to keep up”…. :S
But, lately, I’ve been talking to an INTP, and lord jesus christ is my holy saviour given birth onto from Mary the blessed virgin, I LOVE INTPs. I can not tell you guys how much. Maybe it’s because Ne is their auxiliary function so it’s less overpowering to my Ni? I don’t know but we can talk for hours and hours and hours on end at the most ridiculous times (sometimes as early as 3am) and I’ll enjoy our conversations immensely. I can’t really fault this pairing. I mean, we discuss anything and everything and her Ne is still pretty obvious but it really doesn’t bother me, in fact I like it. We’ve even developed our own little language which would make absolutely no sense to anyone other than us. :D
I wonder what everyone else’s experiences with extroverts are. But as it stands, for me personally, INTP > ENTP. And ENTPs are supposed to be my natural partner. Huh.
I’m looking to do a kind of Ask an INTJ thread where every other MBTI type can ask you followers questions about being INTJ.
What is your opinion on this?
(This will take place in the forum though, so if you want to participate you’re going to have to sign up…)
The more members we get, the more members we’ll attract!
So come join us, you never who you might meet :)
The cognitive functions that underlie each type offer pertinent predictions of how the types will act when unhealthy.
The Big 5 is very different from the type theories that are generally discussed […], and that is because it’s measuring TRAITS, not personality types. A trait is a behavior, external or internal, that is evident enough to create a pattern within your overall behavior.
